Fishing Report Astoria Ocean Season Finale Sunday Aug 12

With word that the ocean was closing, decided to once again make the drive to Astoria, OR.  Did this with the full knowledge how much I dislike, o.k. hate, driving through Seaside on Sunday afternoon.  We started out at the CR Buoy with limited success, then we went north, way north, past the lighthouse and condos and found the charter fleet, had some action, lost a few, but still fairly slow, decided to run back to the green line between buoy 1 and 3, and ended with 4 coho, and 2 nice chinook.  Today, cut plug herring seemed to outperform the fresh anchovies.

We fished until about 1:00 p.m and the traffic coming back through Seaside was very slow, pretty much dead stop.  By the time we got home, and cleaned fish, was about 6:00 p.m.   It was a long day but since it was the end of the ocean season, worth it.

Went with my Friends Jeff, Inna and Anton, had a very nice day, although we did have to wait until 7:00 a.m. to cross the bar, it was restricted to 26' and under until then, because of the large ebb tide.
