Fishing Report: Columbia River Sep 21

Decided to go east, instead of west, for a change of scenery, to chase some Chinook salmon. We arrived at the boat ramp, Mayer State Park, near the mouth of the Klickitat River about 5:30 a.m. We launched with no wait, however a lot of boats had already launched, and were prepping gear on the rocky beach beside the launch.

We began trolling pro trolls and spinners, a very exciting way to fish, in my opinion. Chad was first to have a fish on, apparently a large Chinook, based on seeing its tail come out of the water, just before it swam away, right beside the boat, that's fishing! Next, I had a turn, and put a Chinook in the box, after a nice fight. Then Todd got a fish in the boat. At this point it was after noon, Chad said we can call it when you two are ready, let's give it some time, I said.

We agreed we would fish until 1:30, you know what happened at 1:26? Chad had another chance to land a Chinook, and was successful this time! We ended 3 for 4, and called it a day. The fishery closed September 25, 2019, looks like we will have to wait till next year to try this option again.
