Best bets for fishing
Surf perch fishing has been hot along the Oregon Coast.
Spring Chinook fishing will close on the Columbia River after April 7, but the season will just be heating up on the Willamette, Rogue, Umpqua and Nestucca rivers, and in Tillamook Bay.
Spring trout fishing can be excellent!

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries division estimates about 45 percent of spring chinook salmon are lost between the mouth of the Columbia and Bonneville Dam, with sea lions being primarily responsible.
“There isn’t one magic bullet, there is no one answer,” Herrera Beutler said. “The reality is there’s another piece of this that needs to be addressed: giant sea lions eating endangered salmon.”

The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has sided with salmon and steelhead on the Columbia and Snake Rivers, ruling that federal agencies must spill water over dams so young fish can migrate downstream to the Pacific Ocean.
The 9th Circuit ruling means that the "Fish Flush" will begin April 3 for dams on the Snake River, and April 10 for dams on the Columbia River.
Great day, great fishing, good company. Springers are the rage, and I love that fishing, but the scenery and action on the ocean are sometimes too much for me to pass on.
Fishing still very slow but patience is a virtue, and with it you could get a really nice fish!

After two days spent trapping and relocating the animal designated #U253, he was headed back to where he started — an Oregon river 130 miles from the Pacific Ocean that has become an all-you-can-eat fish buffet for hungry sea lions.
It is still early, but fish are being caught, although not many. Nice video of Team Schwab catching thier first Springer of 2018!
