Fishing Report: Garibaldi Jun 4th

Remaining flexible with plans is somewhat essential for an angler. My friend Todd had initially planned a trip to Newport for halibut on Friday, June 4th, 2021 in his 19’ Arima. After having secured the bait, ice, set up the rods, fueled the boat etc. plans fell through. I was planning on fishing with my wife in our boat out of Garibaldi. Since Todd had his boat all packed up, I changed my plans and he came to Garibaldi and we fished in his boat. My wife got a good beach day so it all worked out.

We went north to Cannon Beach, and caught several fish. Problem is you cannot keep quillback, cabezon, copper, or china rockfish at this time. We also caught several small canary rockfish which were descended back home. We then headed south back towards Garibaldi, and made a stop off of Manzanita. We quickly landed three keeper ling cod, but then the bite died. We headed back to the marina, as Todd still had a two hour drive home, I, luckily had a one minute walk from the ramp to my RV spot in the Port of Garibaldi. The typical lures were used, curly tails on bullet head jigs, baseball bat jigs, Norwegian cod jigs, and diamond jigs.
