May 19 bottom fish and ling cod

I went out of Garibaldi with Jim in his 19’ Arima. We headed north towards some reefs off of Manzanita. First drop, I got a nice sea bass, second drop, a keeper ling cod. Then, we grinded for several hours to get three more ling cod, and seven sea bass, to give us our limits of fish. The ocean was not calm, and the ride back south was not smooth at all. We caught most of the fish on shrimp flies, only a few on the baseball bat jigs, and swim baits. Seems maybe a smaller presentation was working better.

The marina is starting to get into summer swing, more travel trailers and boats showing up, and more people launching each day when ocean conditions allow.
