The summer Chinook season starts on June 22, and water conditions are looking favorable for a fair run through the 4th of July. Passage numbers at Bonneville are already climbing. Summer Chinook commonly run larger than their spring cousins, and action should be fair from Longview to Bonneville Dam using plugs and small spinners either on anchor or trolling.

Spring Chinook angling on the Columbia River is open through Friday to both boat and bank anglers from Tongue Point upstream to Bonneville Dam; and from Tower Island Power Lines upstream to the Oregon/Washington border above McNary Dam, plus the banks only between Bonneville Dam and Tower Island Power Lines. The bag limit is two adult salmonids.
"Free Fishing Weekend" is June 9-10, 2018, when fishing licenses are not required of anyone to fish in Washington. Free Fishing Weekend in Washington is always the first weekend after the first Monday in June.

The river will remain open Thursday below Bonneville through June 15, then will close to chinook until June 22 but remain open for summer steelhead.
Given local conditions, and slow reports from the coast, decided to bottom fish on Sunday, June 3, 2018. Well, about 10 seconds into fishing, Jeff has a fish on, a beautiful Chinook, took a jig on his first drop!

Last Sunday out of Garibaldi. We got our six ling cod in fairly short order, and released a few orange fish and small lings. Weird thing is, never caught even one black rockfish.
Hagg Lake was stocked couple days ago with over 14,000 fish ranging in size from 4 - 24 inches.
Great weekend to get out there and enjoy the lake and the fishing with friends and family.
